The Homestead

The Jonrud homestead is nestled in an idyllic location by Follsjø in the heart of Telemark. Here, you'll find enchanting flower meadows and sheep grazing during the summer. Follsjø serves as a popular destination, offering excellent swimming and fishing opportunities in breathtaking natural surroundings. Now, we are delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to have the entire space to themselves. Live as Norwegians used to, but with today's standards. Amidst the historic buildings and the surrounding nature, it's the perfect Norwegian getaway.

Stay in a traditional Norwegian homestead

The homestead comprises the cottages Stua and Stallen, the barn, Stabburet, and the sauna located in the former pig house. A short one-minute walk takes you to Follsjø, and the well-loved public bathing beach.

The main cabin on the site is The Stua, which underwent renovation in 2023. This cabin features an open living room and kitchen, a sofa, dining table, and a wood stove. In the kitchen, you'll find a stove and a fridge with a freezer. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two family bunk beds. The total accommodation capacity is 8 people, with a maximum recommended occupancy of 6 adults. You can find more information about the living room here.

The stable, Stallen, is a small and simple cabin, often referred to as the micro cabin. Inside, you'll find a living room with a kitchen, sofa, and dining table. The kitchen is equipped with a dormitory stove with hotplates and a fridge. Sleeping space is in the loft, furnished with two high-quality 120 cm mattresses. Additionally, the sofa can be converted into sleeping spaces for two people, making it possible for up to 4 people to sleep, especially if you are close friends. The cabins themselves do not have running water. However, a new bathroom with a shower and toilet is located in the barn, along with a kitchenette for washing up. The barn underwent renovations in 2022. You can find more information about the sauna here.

There is an outdoor area with a dining space and a gas grill. Follsjø beach is just a short walk from the cottage, and it is very suitable for families with small children. There is also a separate bathing area right by the water's edge. We have a simple boat available for use by arrangement. The location is easily accessible via FV602, and it is a short distance to Blefjell.

The Stabburet serves as an annex, offering a comfortable double bed and a sofa bed suitable for use during the summer.
